The Moon, the Mak and the Barlow

Nothing special here, but worth mentioning.

On the 1st I put a 2.5x Revelation Astro barlow in between the Mak and the Nikon. I captured some video which is daft, everybody knows DSLR video is useless, it's compressed it's bayered, it's not using the whole sensor. Plus, the Moon was really low, at about 17 degrees and the seeing was poor. Oh and it wasn't dark yet so contrast was poor.

BUT, it worked out ok. First of all I captured the lucky plane transit which is cool, not ISS but cool nonetheless. Then I stacked some of it for fun.

These are all from 60 second captures at 25fps - 1500 frames each.

Cropped and aligned in Pipp, then stacked the best 500 frames in AS!2 and finished with IMPPG.

Although even the best single frame looks awful, there's a surprising amount of detail to be had and surprisingly it took a lot of pushing without the noise getting awful.

Can't wait for a good night's seeing, with the moon at a good altitude. Might have a bash at a mosaic.
