For any user of an older PST....
They have probably found the weakness in the tuning ring which is prone to splitting and cracking.
After many efforts (including Meade US) I finally had success!
Tasco Australia managed to import replacement rubber rings and for the princely sum of $10 delivered my PST looks as good as ever.
If you need a replacement ring contact Adriano Massatani, at Tasco Australia, Sydney. (sales@tasco.com.au) and mention my name Ken Harrison.

(It may be possible to embarrass a local Meade distributor into doing the same for you....)
