External Temp Sensor

I've got the external temp sensors that came with my Moonlite for use with the auto focus and temp compensation. The stepper has a temp sensor integrated but I'm wondering if I should be using the external, say mounted on the OTA somewhere. Not sure. What are the opinions on this?
