Just saw mayak?

Recommended Posts

Not sure but possibly just saw mayak... came from wsw to e passed a couple of degrees under Altair at about 23.08. Of course it may not have been but was without doubt the brightest satellite I've ever seen, Chinese lantern bright. Can anyone corroborate?

You can download Previsat - a free satellite-tracking software-program - and check it's location. And it's location as well as predicted passes overhead of your location, for any time(s) you wish.

Have a link:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/previsat/

To identify which satellite listed in Previsat is Mayak, you'll need the NORAD assigned tracking-number here - as was posted in an article from UniverseToday - and it's current section in Previsat:

2017-042F

Here's a pdf. of the aforementioned article:

New Satellite ‘Mayak’ Might Light Up the Sky.pdf

It's listed in the 'tle-new.txt' section of Previsat - if the article is correct in the NORAD tracking-number it provided. But I've not known them to goof this sort of thing up!

"Turn Off That Light!"
