DIY eyepiece holder

The observatory refit continues. I'm just finishing off making a new eyepiece holder to mount on the pier.

Adding the new mount I had to ditch the old eyepiece tray.  The new configuration left me with much shorter ends on the bolts. Rather that have to demount everything to replace the bolts, I made the new eyepiece tray out of a thin sheet of aluminium sandwiched between two layers of plywood. This also makes it stronger.

Do you not suffer dampness / dew with eyepieces out in the open like this; or do you have a cunning solution?

With the old wood-only eyepiece rack dew was occasionally an issue, especially with my 32mm plossl.

I'm planning to 'suck it and see' with the new eyepiece rack. If it does become an issue, options could include a simple cloth flap to go over any eyepieces stored in it.
