Sol HA proms last sign of AR2665 18-7-17

slim picking today, some nice proms on the off going limbs, I'm shooting through cloud again "darn sky news weather" and the curtain hook shaped prom is the last sign of the lovely ar2665.

seeing here is rough due to 100% cloud coverage, but hope you all have better skys. thanks for looking . charl.

Well done getting an image Charl. I said goodbye to AR2665 yesterday - right on the edge. Hopefully, will get a view later - currently cloudy.

Nice captures. I have also got some shots away early this morning. Ca-K also shows a lot of activity, and even in WL there are still some trailing faculae of AR2665 visible

thanks Dave, only 90% cloud thats favortizum, it was that horrid thicker thin stuff here mate, i just turned the expo up and add gain untill i could see stuff but ended up chucking loads of vid away for being noisey. hope you get some shots. charl.

Hi Charl. With your prom images is this still Ha and is there any way to bring out proms with white light solar filters film or glass?

Unfortunately you need an specialized Ha filter to show the proms.

A white light filter won't cut it.

thanks Dave, merlin hit the nail on the head, WL will only show surface detail you need Ha "chromosphere filter" to show proms or Ca-K filter will show them well too, the chromsphere is like the flames in a fire mainly hot gases "plasma" being holded in the suns gravity and it the magnetics what form the proms "this is my view and may differ from others".
