White light AR 2665 from 1st thing before the clouds!

Plenty of coud forecast today, but a reasonable gap 1st thing in the morning.

The image is with the X2 Barlow and X2.5 Powermate doubled up again.  Still not managed a really detailed image, but pleased to get another close up!

Looks pretty good Pete, never got a big enough gap in the cloud for videos yesterday but from what little I saw the seeing wasn't up to much.

Very nice close-up. Cloudy here, unfortunately. I would really like to see how much detail I can get in that AR with the C8

I've been waiting for clouds to clear for a close up mate but nothing. Don't think I'll have time on it until Friday which may be too late. Most disappointing.

I have been about a full aperture ask for either my 200mm or C9.25, but I thought 100-120 was the maximum useful  aperture.

The 120/ 125mm aperture "sweetspot" reflects the average seeing conditions....

lucky imaging with larger apertures can give good results.

Not if you look at some images taken with big SCTs, or Solar Newtonians. They can show stunning detail

Those are the exceptions.....great seeing and lucky imaging.

Might be worth having a filter for those rare days. It would be interesting to see what the C9.25. 25 could deliver, especially earlier in the mornings while the seeing can be most stable. Quite an investment though.

Nice shot. You were lucky to get some clear sky. Was out at the weekend but cloud and now rain here.
