Todays sun AM and PM, limb flare 5.7.2017

Recommended Posts

Lovely blue skies this morning, unfortunately not where the Sun was rising! The 1st image was through the haze in the morning, the 2nd was under blue skies although the seeing had deteriorated a little. There was also a very interesting looking flare on the Eastern limb, I would like to watch this one develop!

The usual Lunt50 ds, DMK21au618, +X2.5 Powermate. Stacked in A/S2, stitched in Autostitch (ICE failed).

It caught my eye due to the flaring at its base.

Yes, I can imagine. It seems to be a bright ring surrounding a fountain of fire.

Excellent. Love the flare - that's a right volcanic eruption!

Meant to add... is that a composite of two images or did the exposure work for disk and flare in a single shot?

Very nice Pete :hello2:

Your right Pete that limb flare area did erupt,i posted a very quick FB message to let others know.

I managed around 150 captures of it, so far I have processed & aligned them. It looked pretty violent & I had no pause between captures as the action was happening very quickly. As I was working in that eat all day I really didn't feel like setting up when I got home but now glad I did ;-)

No just a single SER file stacked.

There is a very nice AR visible in WL and Ca-K there now

Good news. On seeing it in Ha yesterday, I tried WL but just got a blank disk.

Hopefully it can provide some white light interest for a while.
