Something a bit different from me ...

The proicessing is still a work in progress but I would love to hear what you think.

The Fighting Dragons of Ara ( NGC 6188 and open cluster NGC 6193 ) - a 12 stop HDR image ( 12 sets of subs 1/8s to 240s )

Details:

NGC 6188 - The Fighting Dragons of Ara
NGC 6199 - open cluster ( centre left at top of image )

Image centre RA 16h 40m 9.869s, Dec -48° 41' 21.769" (nova.astrometry.net) 
Orientation: up is East, right is North
Field of view (arcmin): 58.7 x 39.1

Telescope: Orion Optics CT12 Newtonian ( mirror 300mm, fl 1200mm, f4 ).
Corrector: ASA 2" Coma Corrector Quattro 1.175x.
Effective Focal Length / Aperture : 1410mm f4.7

Mount: Skywatcher AZ Eq6 GT
Guiding: TSOAG9 Off-Axis-Guider, Starlight Xpress Lodestar X2, PHD2 

Camera: Nikon D5300 (unmodified) (sensor 23.5 x 15.6mm, 6016x4016 3.9um pixels)
Format: 14bit NEF
Noise reduction: off
Filter: none

HDR combination of 12 sets of exposures ( 24 June 2017 ):
12 stop HDR image ( 1/8 sec to 240 sec  all at ISO800 )

10 subs each for short exposures
34 subs for 240s exposure

I am quite pleased thanks.  The processing still needs some work ... seen full size, the sharpening ( or perhaps something during stretching ) has damaged the bright stars with superimposed artefacts.  I'll go back a couple of steps this weekend and see if I can improve it.

Thanks Chis.  Yes we are blessed with a number of unique objects; although I am quite jelous of your galaxies :)

Still not had time to go back and play properly with this one.

Here is a quick and dirty adjustment on my IPAD - I know it is not to everyones taste but my wife wanted to see a "brighter more colourful version" ...
