First Venus attempt

Since I acquired a double stacked Baader K-line (CaK) filter I have
been thinking of trying to image Venus! Since the DS CaK filter is
rather *dense* I decided to use a Watec 910HX video camera. :)

With 8.5 micron pixels, the disk was (expected to be) v.SMALL!
But I was pleased to find a 20min gap between Venus rising over
my neighbours garage and the Sun rising over the horizon... :p

Unfortunately I wasn't able to conclude much re. the CaK filter!
It proved a little TOO dense for rapid appraisal! But I did try a
Baader Solar continuum filter to "clean up" the image (maybe).

So at 04:50(!) Venus with Altair ED66 via 5x Antares Barlow:

Not much to be gleaned from a 2x Enlargement but... :D

My equipment (and me?) are not ideal, but I'm happy enough! :)
Had I had a more typical cam to hand it would have worked too?

Aside: I did find the idea of setting up the mount under dark skies
(aligning with stars) worked WELL! Maybe someone else might try
this in the forthcoming *days*?!? A less dense UV/Violet filter may
show some evidence of cloud features... ;)

Nice shot. Well done! :) I got a brief video shot of Venus yesterday morning in the daytime that came out much better than I expected, so will try to capture it again in the next few days in the daytime also as long as the skies are clear.
