Watched it last night - one of the more interesting astronomy programs of recent times I think. They've mostly been either repeats, tiresome speculations, or the Brian Cox Show lately - but this one was a great watch. :)

As a lad of about 14 I got a personal tour of the Cambridge observatory and was shown the 36" telescope that was on the TV. It had a eiderdown propped up in the shape of a person who could fit in it to guide.  I assume it was even then being used by Roger Griffin who pioneered cross-correlation methods for radial velocity measurements.

I have also just got the replacement to Roger Griffin's Arcturus spectral Atlas which was published in 1986 it took until 2000 to be replaced in both paper a digital form.

What a great program.

Regards Andrew
