Saturn with very poor seeing conditions

Recommended Posts

Was out with the dob this evening, had a quick look at Saturn but the view was so unsteady it was possibly the worst I've seen! I know it's low in the sky and not going to be great but anyone  else having trouble with seeing conditions this evening? ?

Apart from the main equatorial belt and the darker polar zones, there is usually not much surface detail on Saturn. The very occasional light patch but thats about it.

For me, the observational challenges with Saturn lie in the structure of it's rings and picking off it's moons.

it's a "must see" though and has got many folks hooked on the hobby of astronomy so always worth observing.
