m84 m84 and the eyes

Hi

This image was taken last night, Have struggled with guiding but managed to fluke it yesterday. Need to remember how for next time

Anyway 

15 * 4minute light frames

With bias, darks flats (that didnt seem to work ?)

Canon 450d un- moded camera with CLS filter on a AVX mount with the ES 102mm APO refractor

Stacked with DSS and semi-processed in PS 

Thanks for looking. 

Any ways to imprve greatly appreciated

This looks great.  I certainly haven't managed this yet.

I'm no expert (at all) but I'm wondering if you can squeeze a bit more colour from this?  I've had a go with your PNG directly, so a bit data limited, and got this (although I don't know how real the colours actually are – haven't checked.)

...not sure what you (or anyone else) think of this, but I appreciated having some data to play with!

Essentially, I did this:

  • created a synthetic luminance from the average of the RGB channels
  • adjusted the curves on this (I like looking at monochrome images!)
  • blurred the original RGB with a Gaussian to smooth out noise and widen the colour field
  • increased the RGB saturation
  • suppressed excess green with SCNR
  • combined both the L and blurred RGB images
  • adjusted the noise floor slightly

No.  Nor PI.  I'm using Nebulosity, largely, although I do some stuff in Matlab (SCNR and some stretching, in this case)
