Which DSLR Modification? Full Spectrum or Single Filter?

Recommended Posts

Okay, I'm ready to take the plunge and buy a sub-£400 modified camera that will be 100% dedicated to astrophotography through a refractor telescope (so no AF needed).  I've found a place online that offers an EOS 1300D with either the filter removed and sensor repositioned, or with the full spectrum (both filters removed) mod.  I just can't seem to find information that will allow me to settle on a solid answer as to which one would be best for me.  Are there significant advantages/disadvantages to avoiding the full spectrum version? Which would give me the more detailed images? and would additional equipment like filters be required on either?  will I still get the richer nebulae reds on the full mod version? or will the colours be weird, maybe like a negative?

I live in a fairly light polluted area and I'm just interested in photographing mainly DSO's as easily as I can, without taxing my brain too much :o)

Appreciate any pointers - Thanks

Thanks for the info. I've taken the plunge and purchased through Juan's site - went for the Canon 1300D with just the single filter removed.   Have also opted for one of those £20 Skywatcher Light Pollution Filters. Hoping the combo might provide some pleasing results..
