Quark to sensor distance

Recommended Posts

Hellooooooooooooooo members, just back in from a solar sesh !!!!  :icon_biggrin:, not sure on the seeing though as I have had it before where the preview looks great then the stacks just fill me bin up instead.............we shall see.

Anyhooooww  does anyone know if there is a distance to aim for when using the Quark as in from the Etalon to the camera sensor or doesn't it matter ?

I must admit I have never even given it a thought before so just curious.

Also when using AS! to stack your solar snaps is there a 'best' size to use the Stabalization Anchor ?

What I mean is if I do a 800 x 600 capture do I use a small box & if using high res of 1920 x 1200 is it best to use a larger box or has know one ever noticed any differences ?

Any feedback from experience most welcome :icon_biggrin:

No idea about sensor distance it must change using focal reducer.

Never thought about it either, mines set at something, I've never changed it and it has remember size ticked.

Got a reply from Jen at Daystar :-

'it shouldn't make a difference unless you have some kind of focal reduction going on. If that were the case, the closer the camera is to the focal reducer, the larger the image is and vice versa. But otherwise, no. Don't skid one piece of glass against another... ?'

So if anyone else ask's you know what to say ;-)

Sorry to hear yours has not returned yet Dave, why does it take so long eh ? I don't think I'd be too happy.
