2017.5.21 09.15 807 filter, daylight capture

Recommended Posts

I have seen the crescent moon a couple of mornings this week and I guessed Venus wouldn't be far away. So this morning I checked on Calsky to see its position relative to the moon. Venus was around 17 degrees to left and shining at -4 mag. Once I new it's location, it really an easy spot in the 15X70's.

I tried various filters from the UV, 807, 743, 642 with not much success. This was with 807 filter to help tame the conditions. Venus was quite near the meridian so well placed, but I guess the Sun had been up 5 hours so not ideal planetary imaging conditions. The UV images were dreadful and not worth posting.

The usual set up C9.25, Asi120mm + X1.8 Barlow, stacked in A/S2. Around 17,000 frames captured and stacked only 5%.

Not a great image, but at 9.30am in bright sunshine on a early Sunday summers day it was fun trying :icon_biggrin:
