Comet Johnson

4 posts in this topic

I managed to see Comet 2015 V2 Johnson tonight in 10x50s.  It's not that prominent though, just a pale glow, and needed the moon shaded behind some trees.  It's close to X Her so very well placed high in the sky, and should get a bit brighter over the coming weeks as it approaches the sun. Always nice to see a binocular comet !

Just had another look at the comet. It's nearly midnight and 'just' about dark, with a bit of high haze around. It's a lot easier in 10x50s tonight - a more defined smudge in the same field as Printseps. Now getting toward it's best - I would say around mag. 7 and well worth a look.

Haven't seen it for a while, will have a look if it ever stops raining.
