All black - Celestron AstroMaster 130 EQ

Hi, I just bought my first telescope, but I really can't see anything but black. I tried a few things mentioned on previous posts, but still all I can see is black. What am I doing wrong? Thank you all for your help.

Have you removed the whole of cap from the front of the telescope ? Have you tried looking at a bright object at night (the Moon) or something in the distance during the daytime (not the Sun) and focused the telescope ?

What eyepice have you got in it and what are you aiming it at??

Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL. Do not worry. It will be something simple. Try to focus on a distant object in day light. Just make sure the object is not near to the Sun.

set up in daylight would be my advise too - I had the same issue with my first telescope; turns out that the finder wasn't aligned, so when I thought I was aiming at an object, is was just looking at empty space.

Finally I can see  I had to adjust the secondary mirror. Thank you!

On a second hand, unloved scope, the primary mirror could be out of alignment, but on a new scope, its probably less likely, but not 100% unlikely.
Mirror adjustment may have been the final solution, well after any of the above recommended fixes.

Whatever happened previously, you seem to be happier now.
