Where to point the camera

I might do some widefield imaging tonight with a Canon dslr and 70-200 2.8 lens mounted on a Celestron AVX mount, any areas here in the Northern Hemisphere that would stand out ?

Well, depending on what interests you, the Virgo cluster of galaxies can be quite rewarding in wide field...

They are quite well positioned at the moment.

If we ever get a clear night again, you could try the elephant trunk bit of the MW. In my garden, thats the only real area of interest I can see at the moment. Luckily there is quite a bit nearby...

I will sure give it a try. Thank you. The image below was what I was able to get last night in Virgo. Roughly 155 mins of exposure at ISO 800, kinda rough but I hope to improve next time out.

Well done, you have captured quite a number of galaxies there!

The Astrometry.net plate solve list is so long I stopped counting.  

If you are able to take some flats there might be even more waiting to be teased out.

Wow, that is unreal. Honestly I had no clue about the number of galaxies in that shot. I will work on my flats for the next setup and add it to my darks and bias frames. Thank you.
