Jupiter from the 23.4.2017, RGB and OSC

Some pretty decent seeing conditions last night, wasn't expecting much to be honest!

First image is 7.5 mins RGB with my Asi120mm, derotated in Winjupos. The second is 3 mins OSC with my Asi224mc. Both with the C9.25. I could do with upping the image scale slightly maybe with the Asi224mc. Both stacked in Autostakkert2.

Very nice. Lovely subtle detail visible. Next time I will try 3 minutes with the ASI224MC, instead of 90 seconds I used last time

I might have a go at derotating it as well, I guess 3 minutes at getting on for F20 might be getting to the point of blurring some of the detail.

Agree with everyone else - nice detail and like the processing too.

Are you using any barlow - would a x2 be too much do you think? Also wonder why the ASI120 and 224 images seen different scale when pixel size is the same.

Can I ask what frame rate you get with the ASI224, and is it USB3 or 2?

Sorry - lots of question!

Interesting comparison. I bet with a bit more image scale and colour tweaking, that there would not be much to choose between them. I use an ADC with the 224MC which at these altitudes is a must.

Processing is so much easier.  Seeing has to be really fantastic to differentiate between RGB and OSC with ADC.

Best regards

Peter
