American Eclipse 2017 visible from UK

An interesting article outlining the possibility of observing the solar eclipse on 21 Aug 2017 from the UK. admittedly it's a very partial eclipse at a painfully low altitude in the UK but anyone who fancies a challenge on 21 Aug to distract them from the fact that they couldn't get to the USA might find this handy!  :happy7:

Not looking good for me in the London area. 3.4 degrees on the Western horizon is a push.:shocked:

Still to see the sun and moon paired very near each other is not a bad alternative. That is whether you will be able to see the moon below the sun (with the correct eye protection of course) as illustrated on the website?
No doubt it will be clouded over in any case!

Thanks for the information!  Sounds like a decent challenge.  Obviously dependant on a few important factors but there's a chance at least... :)   4.3 degrees while low is hardly impossible to observe as long as you have a clear horizon and (most importantly) great transparency
