Sorry for the delay in responding to it but I've been away for a few days.

Interesting what you say about the effect of removing the moon filter. I don't generally find the need to use a filter and some of this is because I don't want any more glass than necessary in the optical train.

Most of the time I guess that folks are not really "pushing the envelope" with regards to the details that they are seeking out so having a filter in place won't have a noticable effect. But when "the chips are down" and you are going for details at the outer edge of what the optics, conditions and observer can detect then every little difference matters IMHO.
