The odd liberty taken with Jupiter

This is my general impression in oil paint of observing Jupiter a couple of nights ago in the 7" with perhaps just a little averted imagination, artistic licence and the odd liberty taken.  The blue ring is an artistic device to create the impression of brightness, not chromatic aberration!

Brilliant  the amount of time I have spent trying to remove a blue ring on my images  Lovely painting especially like the transit of moon and shadow!

Yeah, funny how the blue ring is nice in art but we all work so hard to avoid it in reality! The moon is one of the "liberties", John saw it in a 12" but I couldn't make it out in my 7, just the shadow

That's a fab painting Tim, and I really like the non-chromatic blue fringe as it makes the planet's globe lift from the black background.

You wanna trip to Scotland and paint my MDF, Ive stripped it all back to bare, what a nightmare?
Dark skies here too when conditions allow, for your future observation.
