A focal solar system collage

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I thought I'd share with you all this little arty farty collage I made of the moon and some of the planets: Jupiter, Mars and Saturn. :happy7: All the photos were taken by holding my iPad to my 8inch dob. They were then processed on my iPad and put together on Instagram. Not amazing I know but I was quite chuffed considering my technical limitations.

clear skies, Thomas

Nicely done Thomas. Not easy to achieve using an iPad.

How did you process them? Are they stacks, or single shots?

Cheers Stu! What I did was take a short video holding the iPad to the scope, afterwards I would choose the frame that was the clearest image and screen shot it. I then simply adjusted lots of light and colour on the photo edit settings. You'd be surprised how much better the images come out just by adjusting brightness, contrast and highlights ect..

An image created by the NASA visualisation studio of what a lunar eclipse would look like from the surface of the moon! Pretty cool right? If you want to get a better understanding of what is happening and why, you can checkout this article HERE which goes into the theory behind it all and also shows you what a solar eclipse would look like from the surface of the moon.

      Dear all,
yesterday evening after doing the sketch of the three-day old moon, we had a wonderful twilight scene with Venus and the Moon over here.
So I did a pastel sketch how I recalled it afterwards:

      Clear skies!
