Modded camera- what does this mean?

It involves replacing one of the internal filters inside the camera. This filter is a UV/IR filter, but unfortunately it also cuts off most of the Ha signal which is valuable to us. A brief overview of the steps is here: http://noctilove.co.uk/astro-modification-guide/

Depending on how you do it you can convert it for Just Astrophotography; Astro and Day time (with a custom white balance), or even Full Infrared plus Astro.

Correction.

The filter normally removed in a DSLR mod is the colour correction/ balance filter (filter#2 in the attached graph). This enhances the red response.

The second filter, the Anti Alias/ dust shake filter (filter#1 in the attached graph) acts as a UV/IR filter and can be retained.
