Photoshop CS4 question

Hi,

I've just bought a new laptop and put my copy of Photoshop CS4 on it but I cant open the 16 bit tiff files being output from DSS. It says that its out of memory. However the laptop has 16Gb of RAM and a Core i7 so I would hope thats enough!

I've had a quick play with available memory in preferences but still no joy. I can open the file in Capture one pro 10 successfully so the file itself is ok, and if I then convert it to 8 bit the resulting file does load in Photoshop.

Any pointers greatfully received!

The only thing I can think of is you might be running the 32 bit version of PS rather than the 64 bit, I am assuming you are also using win 10.

yes, Windows 10 and I am running the 64 bit version of PS

check the output of DSS it may be saving a 32 bit image.

Bingo - that was it Steve. I thought they were being saved as 16 bit but they were actually 32!

Now to reprocess and output in 16 bit, thanks for the assistance all!

I always let DSS save a master tiff file with 32 bit and do a manual 16 bit one also.

so what do you actually need in order to load a 32bit tiff?
