Ir filter.

 Do you guys use Ir filter for solar? I tried both and couldn't see a dif. Are Ir filters used mainly for color or bloated stars?

In what Solar scenario are you thinking? I presume you mean WL imaging? It obviously won't fit with Ha.

No I can't say I ever used a IR filter for solar imaging... I figure that the sun is all IR rich so I didn't imagine any more detail being visible compared to white light. With HAlpha it's not necessary since HAlpha is close enough to IR and IR would not have the narrow 0.5 or 0.7A passthrough therefore not revealing the detail you see in HAlpha.

 For best solar images in white light I tend to use only IR CUT or Solar Continuum filter with the IR cut filter.

 Both wl and ha actually. I'm still learning about all this stuff. I don't get what you mean though by won't fit?

Well, Ha is at a specific wavelength of 656.28nm so an IR (cut) filter won't add anything.  For WL I find a green Wratten 56 filter works best.
