I spent a few days in Gibraltar last week and during my visit bagged a pair of Meade Travelview 10 X 50's at a none too shabby price. I bought them as a grab and go tool and to take to SA later in the year. Tonight I gave the their first outing as I saw that Orion was well above the horizon after dusk. Despite the relatively  light skies, a saw nebulosity in the sword and could see that the trapezium was a group of stars as opposed to a single. I then had a wander in the vicinity of Andromeda and am sure that I identified M31. Very happy with my purchase.

Later I deployed the Skywatcher for the first time in weeks and had a little while revisiting the nebula. I didn't do much else but it was good to be observing again!
