post production software

Hey all, any suggestions on software other than photoshop for post production manipulation, i dont want to subscribe to use PS so would appreciate any info,  clear skies          Pete

The Gimp would be a good choice, it's free and feature rich. Unlike PS though, it is currently an 8 bit depth program although a 16 bit version is apparently just around the corner.

There is however new version - 2.9 branch. Not officially released for windows but there are community builds that are quite useful (I've used them, and found no problem what so ever). It supports even 32bit int/float per channel formats.

I have used most, PSP and Affinity Photo are good for the price but they are no Photoshop not even close.

I use StarTools and PaintshopPro, PSP can use two common PS plugins hastalevista and gradient exterminator. PSP was just £19.99 I don't know if it is still available online at that price.
