Morning sunset

It was a couple of months ago now, I forget exactly when, but watching the moon set from 38,000 ft yesterday morning reminded me.

Flying south in the UK one morning, I watched the sun rise in the east. When we started to descend, the sun not being at all high yet, it set again! When we slowed our rate of descent before landing, through broken cloud, I watched it rise once more.

That was pretty cool - common for pilots I imagine.

Anyone else witnessed this?

Can get the effect on the ground.  Locally we have an iron-age hillfort, in late spring and summer it is possible while walking up the track to the hillfort, to get three 'sunrises' on a given morning - assuming clear skies of course ;)
