SG Pro trial and plate solving

Recommended Posts

I've downloads Sequence Generator Pro (SGP) trial version and Elbrus plate solving software.  I can't get SGP to actually do any plate solving using computer installed software, it says it can't find a plate solving program and defaults to astrometry.net.  I have both Platesolver2 and Elbrus installed on my computer, but SGP doesn't seem to connect to them.   Is this a limitation of the trail version of SGP?

Thanks

I am currently trialling SGPro, and I have got it to successfully plate solved with PlateSolve2.

SGPro has it's own built in version of PlateSolve2, so you do not need to install it by hand. What you do need to do is to install the star charts from the PlateSolve website (http://planewave.com/downloads/software/) Then you need to make sure that the version installed in SGPro knows where to find them (http://mainsequencesoftware.com/Content/SGPHelp/SequenceGeneratorPro.html?SettingupPlateSolve2.html)

If you go to "Tools" -> "Equipment Profile Settings", and then choose the Platesolve tab; if you now hit "Settings" it should bring up the PlateSolve2 screen. You can actually get it to perform a plate solve on a pre-captured image to check that it all works.

Very helpful Frugal, thank you. I am in the process of trialling SGPro - no chance of actually using it in anger though

I'm currently having a number of issues with SGPro (full licence) and its integration with other software and my Altair cameras. Last night it wouldn't plate solve despite being on target (it has in the past). It also doesn't like the ASCOM driver for my USB 3 camera and so I'm beginning to look for another solution ...
