Astrophotography - smartphone style

Even though my long term plan is to get into astrophotography I have been impressed with some of the images people have taken using nothing more then their phones. So I decided to have a go using the most obvious target with a focus on a full moon and tycho, see results below

Nice ones Ger.

I use an app called ProCam4 on iOS which helps control exposure and focus. Plenty of others around I'm sure.

One thing that took me a while to realise....if you wear glasses, make sure you wear them when focussing otherwise your image will always be out of focus for the camera.

Give Venus a try next maybe?

Good effort Ger! My first images were taken using my smartphone, I really struggled to get much of anything in view and the images didn't improve as my hands got colder! Hope you're able to get out and take some more, it's very addictive once you get going!

When I started taking photos of the moon with my phone I was absolutely shocked of the quality photos you can take with just a mobile phone. I purchaced a bresser mobile phone adapter. 20161107_204849.thumb.png.ea64a573204105e50f5ed4b4e2fb5f15.png20161021_110610.thumb.png.71d3ed4bff5d0d300d8961093a7134cd.png20161021_091701.thumb.png.0a0998b7cc07d10f365a611f6b8839a1.pngThat made me go deeper in to astrophotography and invest in a few necesary things to take DSO photos.

It doesn't come very cheap but I think it's worth it.
