USB Hub v peripheral connectivity

Recommended Posts

I currently use a 6 port USB 2.0 hub to connect all of my peripherals to one USB lead that goes to my laptop for my mobile set up. What are the alternatives to this as my imaging DSLR camera keeps crashing and just wondered if it was the transfer speed of the hub??
Have seen USB 3.0 hubs but just wondered if there was an alternative to connect my peripherals to one lead that connects to my USB port on my laptop (have both 2.0 & 3.0 ports on the laptop)??

If you want only one lead then a powered USB hub will be your only realistic choice. I use Startech 4 Port Powered USB 3.0 Hub that is cable tied onto the mount bar at the side of my scope and draws 12v power from my power tank.

Cheating, but I have a mini PC at the mount (5 USB ports) so can connect each device individually.

Also have a couple of Powerline devices to carry my network out, some, one cable to the outdoors.

Thanks guys, I have seen the Startech but I need more than 4 ports and the 7port version comes in at £52.  Have also seen a similar device Orico USB 3.0 12v 7 port at £32.  They look to do the same and the great thing is can power when in the field rather than when just at home.  :hello2:.
