Celestron Skysync GPS

Recommended Posts

I purchased the Celestron Skysync GPS a few days ago, all looked fine with the product the red light indicated it was powered up.

But when I go to the Utilities option on my remote it comes up with no GPs detected.

When I pressed enter there was no option for on or off for the GPS it just popped up with the message (No Gps detected)

So I checked my version on my remote and all seems fine im at a loss, here's all the information on m scope-

Nexstar 6SE Goto mount
My remote is the Nexstar+
Version
HC :NXS 5.22.3141
MC :5.14 5.14
I believe this is the updated version any help would be greatly appreciated.

please forgive me but it has to be asked ... have you plugged it in the aux socket ? not the auto guider socket

It's definitely plugged in the aux socket and the red light shows there's power to it.

Honestly I'm praying it's something I'm doing  wrong and not a fault with my equipment.

I will try pushing the connector in when it's off.

Ive tested it twice for a couple of hours and ensuring I have the relevant updates but I have to say I've only tried connecting it inside with the scope unattached to ensure everything was working.

Stupid question coming up, do you think because it wasn't outside with an open sky that could be why it can't connect?

Yes. My TomTom sat-nav does not work indoors.   It needs to see the satellites.

Thank you Geoff, my train of thought was surely it should be able to detect the GPS was there and only then would it not be able to get the relevant information from the satellites.

Which is why I thought something must be wrong with the handset or the GPS.

I will try it outside and update the outcome thank you ?
