Newbie targets for deep sky.

I know my rig is far from ideal as far as imaging DSOs, sw200p, EQ5 goto and cheap colour CCD, however it's what I've got at the moment, although I'm planning to upgrade as time goes by.

Given what I've got at the moment, what targets would people suggest for a first try at DSOs?

You could try going for some of brighter galaxies like the Whirlpool (M51), or perhaps you could get the core of the Orion Nebula. I would recommend the book, Turn Left At Orion".

Flame nebula would fit nicely into a 200mm scope and is nice and bright. You can always go for the classic M42, you wont get it all but its nice and bright so you will not need overly long exposures.
