September 2008

Recommended Posts

OK a year has passed  . I stopped doing the Monthly guides due to lack of interest and the fact that it took a while to do.

So this new version is a little leaner than last year. But you'll notice that some of the information is taken from last years...

I have included some points of note for this september and given timings and maps to aid veiwing.

I would be interested in any constructive comments.

This guide is available for download as a PDF only. In time the constellation guides will become part of Astropedia (thus killing two birds with one stone...)

Cheers

Ant

I will, however, work on my layout skills for future issues.

That was the same one (I think) That we gave out at the NLO earlier this month compiled by ant and the admin team. They were extremely popular...Invaluable for the new astronomer and they went like hot cakes..

I read it.. :hello2:

It's similar Greg, I removed most of the images and everything that related to August and added a few new bits in.

Already working on Octobers... :clouds1:

Ant - Maybe it's easy to forget that there are a lot of relative novices out here (like me) who do get a lot of benefit from all sorts of guides. In the last 6 months since getting a telescope I have acquired a couple of books - my nice new Turn Left at Orion arrived just this morning - that give good ideas on things to look at during different times of the year, as does Astronomy Now magazine, for example. I picked up the handout you compiled for the NLO open day, and I've learned a bit more by reading it. It is nice to have something "in-house" to SGL. So as long as you actually enjoy creating it, it is worth producing. Thanks.

Allan

Thanks for all the kind words.

I have found an error in the guide, the Occultation of M45 by the moon is on the morning of the 20th NOT the 19th.

Sorry about that.

I'll change it then re-upload it...
