Solar Imaging ShowCase 2016

Can't remember much going on in '16 ... but it appears I did venture out on the odd occasion ( http://s1241.photobucket.com/user/steveward53/library/2016 Sun?sort=3&page=1 )

Most memorable day was the Mercury Transit day of course , took more shots that day than the rest of the year put together ... :happy8:

All combined here into a rather jittery video , couldn't get the whole thing as the clouds eventually won the day , but got the majority of it ... :happy7:

Best viewed in HD and full screen.

I do very little solar imaging, but I did manage to catch the Mercury transit. I was clouded out initially so it was only a matter of luck that I managed to grab the first contact. Shown here is the transit at about 2 hours in, with an inset showing in a rather cloudy image, between 1st and 2nd contacts.

Sorry for the huge quote, but I LOVE these last two pics. I'm just starting out, but I'd love to eventually be able to take pics like these. Very cool!

One of the US forums (TheSkySearchers) is having a processing "challenge" starting tomorrow (Sep 15, 2020) and they're going to use some of my data.  I found the two AVIs of a full disk/proms from the Fall of 2016.  It was shot with a Lunt 60PT and an ASI120MM cam.  The data is available in my public DrobBox if anyone wants to tinker around with some really old (four years) stuff.

The proms are at: PROM DROPBOX LINK

The surface is at: SURFACE DROPBOX LINK

No password is needed as it's a Public Folder.😀

Since it is my shot, I figured that I'd better process it some.

NOTE THAT I ACCIDENTALLY PUT THE YEAR AS 2018 ON TWO OF THE SHOTS BELOW.  IT WAS REALLY 2016.😀
