Understanding Astronomical Optics

Recommended Posts

While looking for something totally different on spectrographs I can across this site http://www.telescope-optics.net/index.htm#TABLE_OF_CONTENTS which has some very interesting information for anyone who wants understand things like MTF, EE and Strehl ratio and how these change with, for example, central obstruction. Nerds only I am afraid.

Regards Andrew

Why would ANYBODY not be totally absorbed in these things? Some people.........   ;)

Thanks for the link, helpful to have a single reference source sometimes. Have only skimmed a couple of the sections for now but they seemed to be comprehensively researched and accurate.

It's a very substantial and detailed resource. When I've consulted it I've probably only understood around 10-20% of what I've read but I've still gleaned some valuable stuff from the website.
