Afraid so,Ron. That's one of the problems I have with M31, I can usually get loads of stars but the 'misty bits' are rather elusive.

Afraid nothing Mate, they just give the whole thing a richness and a three dimensional effect. It is a superb piece of work which has your unique style in it.
