ISS 04.02.2017

 Not imaged the ISS for a while, but as I was out imaging Venus earlier I thought I would wait for it. C9.25/ASI12mm-s. Frames selected thanks to PIPP, no real outstanding images.

Hi Pete,

Good capture. My son had a friend round for tea and conditions were looking good as I had seen an ISS pass was due at 1842hrs. Not to be, clouds spoit the show.

Nice capture, Pete. I never tried to image the ISS before.  Was it difficult to image?

Its not very easy to be honest. Just getting it on the camera chip is a challenge, then keeping it there for a length of time. Then getting the focus correct and exposure about right is also a challenge. I focused on the moon and guessed the exposure from the last time I imaged it.

This was as it come into view, the difference in size/brightness is huge from low on the horizon to overhead.

I focus and set exposure on a bright star then try and figure out it's path using Stellarium and lay in wait for it hoping it goes through the FOV, as it approaches I set off high speed continuous capture and hope for the best, works about 50% of the time
