I used the light vortex tutorial. R -HA, B- HA*O3 *1.5 and G O3. Used curves to sort background out a bit too.

I don't believe I've seen M1 presented with this colour scheme before, most unusual.  It reveals the structure of the remnant SN well.

There is a blue-ish wash across the background and I wonder if you masked M1 and adjusted the background to a charcoal grey you would gain some tonal contrast with M1 and help it spring out of the frame?
