gonzostar
Just a quick question For the AVX mount the load stated is 30lbs (13.6kg). Does this include the counter weight provided 12lbs (5.4kg) or not Cheers Dean
Nova2000
It doesn't.
gonzostar
Ah thats what i thought. With the imaging gear on the mount its at 90% capacity. Is that way to much?
John
I think 50% is the usual recommendation for imaging purposes ?. That said, I'm sure lots of folks manage fine close to their mounts limits.
iapa
The payload quoted is for your equipment, there is no need to include the weights or counter balance arm. A nominal payload for AP - OTA, guiding, camera etc. would be around 20lbs for the AVX. With careful balancing 25 lbs can still yield reasonable results. I've had 200PDS, DSLR, ST80 CCD and the various wires (focus motors and controllers too), take time with reasonably well levelled, good balancing (east heavy, and a tad North heavy too). gonzostar
That sounds better if i take off the counter weight and balance arm, that puts my load to 54% North heavy does that mean the scope dec axis moves in a slight downward direction at the visual back end? Astrobug
For AP 2/3 of the max load is a good guideline. Balancing is indeed really important.
