What is the best time to observe Mars?

Recommended Posts

Spring and Summer 2018 as it approaches opposition. It will gradually grow in size reaching it's maximum in July 2018 which will mean that it's apparent disk will be arond 5x as large as it is now.

Oddly about 18:00 to 18:30 in the evening. It seems to be reasonably placed at that time, it is however heading downwards so by 20:00 it is likely too low here. Easy to locate, Venus is in the West and very bright, Mars is above and left of it but it is dim, and small, owing to the distance from us now.

Gets better in 2018 and better still in 2020.
