4 alan bolts in dovetail plate- Skywatcher explorer 150p

Recommended Posts

When I built the scope up yesterday, I had 4 alan bolts in the dovetail plate, 2 at each end near the mounting bolts. There were no holes in the mounting rings for these bolts to thread into. What is their purpose?

Thanks.

I have no idea for definite but, in the past I have used mine to adjust the position of the scope very slightly for correcting cone error. I also wondered if they might be there to stop the dovetail slipping through the saddle on your mount if it came slightly loose....

Be interesting to see what the actual reasons are! :-)

To correct orthogonal errors if you can be bothered.
