Stackistry version 0.2.0

Recommended Posts

New version 0.2.0 can be downloaded from https://github.com/GreatAttractor/stackistry/releases

New features:

  • Image alignment using the intensity centroid (useful for planets)
  • Structure detection for better automatic placement of reference points
  • Zoom function in image view widgets
  • More controls for automatic reference point placement
  • Displaying and exporting of frame quality data
  • Generating the composite of best fragments of all frames

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed opening AVI files produced by FFMPEG

Necessity is the mother of invention — the enhanced ref. point placement was needed for automatic stacking of lunar videos out of my new ATM Newt, without adding tens of points manually.

The need for quality data frame export feature was pointed out by Joachim (RTJoe) from Solarchat, can be useful e.g. for comparing with an SSM (Solar Scintillation Monitor) output from a session.

Finally, it is quite interesting to view the composite of best frame fragments. You can see some of this in the video tutorials I finally got around to making:

Subtitles should activate automatically. If your browser's preferred language is not English, you may have to turn them on manually.
