Was gonna ask when the Autumn gig was planned.

I see you're not following on from the Kielder bash this year.

Anyway cheers for putting it up early Mike I can get planned.

Mike thought you might need the extra time to get ready for the pie eating contest. :evil4:

The free whisky sounds very enticing  :angel7:

One day in the distance maybe, thanks.  :)

Hi Dai,

Great that you can make it. The Spring event was not the best with the weather, but at least we had the opportunity to use the gaming room......

Julian and Hadyn were there.

I must book up soon.

Must look and see when SGL is on this year. The Galloway skies are always darker.

Cheers

Adrian

SGL is the week before Kielder, a month prior to Galloway so you can do all the Star parties if you wish Adrian :)

Sadly, I don't think I can make this one :( I had a great time at the spring event so it's a shame...

Hi James,

After reading your message above, I looked in my diary and have have both SGL and Galloway already marked.

There is another star party being planned by Hadyn for the Isle of Man in September 2017, which I might attend once all the details have been finalised.

Could be a busy 3 months later in the year.

I must admit it would be interesting to meet up again at SGL, even though Daz has banned me from the cooked breakfast club!!!!

I am a great fan of the Galloway event, given the really dark skies and flat horizon, plus the whiskey tasting sessions on the odd cloudy night... (Spring 2017 mostly cloudy so plenty of whiskey tasted)

All the Best,

Adrian

This is looking like my Star Party option for this year. Just need to get approval from the boss and wait for pay day to book it.

My only concern: Camping in November, brrrr...

Leslie normally just takes a deposit, I think £25, and you pay the remainder at the end of your stay. be good if you can make it.  Get yersel booked

Oh, I'll do it, I just won't like it!

It was pretty cold at Lucksall last year, and that was a month earlier and South, rather than North!

Are you up for this @PhotoGav &

@Jonk ?

Hello Ali, Thank you for the nudge about this one. I am definitely up for it, but need to check to make sure I will be able to come along. @Twisted Lip - how about you?? I just hope the weather is kinder to us than in the Spring!

Hi we hold meet ups in and around the North end of the  Galloway Dark Sky Park.  Dalmellington, Loch Doon and other place about Ayrshire.  I will post any public meets if anyone wishes  to come along.  Also if anyone is in this neck of the woods and needs some local info we would be glad to help.

      Aurora over Perthshire

I'm ecstatic that I finally got a chance to see the aurora - I usually miss them whenever they make an appearance!  It gave me a chance to try out my new lens (Samyang 14mm f2.8) with my Canon 70d, and I can tell it's going to be a firm favourite!  Having never imaged the aurora before (and generally being pretty useless with processing software) I wasn't entirely sure how best to process them, but I think they turned out ok in the end!

On the evening of the 17th March in the north of Scotland the dancing lights of the aurora filled the sky and put on a mesmerising show (despite the misty conditions). Attached are a few of many wide angle shots of the aurora I obtained that evening. If you look closely at the images you can see the Plough - which will give a sense of scale to these wide angle shots.

The images were taken near Strathy on the north coast of Scotland using an astro modded Canon 600D and 10-22mm Sigma wide angle lens (at 10mmFL).

It's been a busy month for me, so it has taken a while to get a few pics processed. As a result these are not providing breaking news - I hope you enjoy seeing them nonetheless.

My back garden isn't the most scenic spot I've photographed the northern lights from, but it is very convenient for just sitting back and enjoying the show  .....
