Green Flash - is it possible ?

It certainly is possible to sight it over land provided there is a suitable distant horizon, I have seen this phenomenon myself. More often seen out to sea for that reason. A recent photograph on the "Solarchat" forum showed it nicely.   :icon_biggrin:

Possible if you really had a clear horizon but in this case it looks like the setting sun may have been seen through distant trees in which case the "flash" could have been a final glimmer of light through foliage. If it was a green flash it would have looked distinctly green - that's how you'd know.

If you saw it. then it must be possible.

What caused it is open to conjecture.

I was convinced that I had seen the Northern lights the other night when Sirius turned bright green. However. This hypothesis was fairly quickly shown to be far less likely than more mundane causes. But, I know that Sirius appeared green!
