Don't think either of them provide a Mono mod service as yet...! :)

Yepp, unfortunately that's the case. The only stable point so far is centralDS - at 900(!!!)$, I am skipping this one, 900 bucks buys me 3 new sensors to learn the debayering process...

If it ends up on me, I'll debayer a few olympus e-pl5's (~10$ sensor each, I have a camera body), then start with the 6D. Anyway, I hope it won't end up in DIY, because that means couple of weekends invested too...

It's a shame it's such a niche market, I'd personally love a mono DSLR for astro and day time but the thought of debayering it myself or worse paying the same as a dedicated ccd just makes it not viable for me.

Best of luck mate

Thanks, I'll need it... In the meantime I received answers from all European modders I could dig out (JTW, Luis Campos/Monomods, Astroghost) - everybody deals with APSc only. Only Hypercams (US) and CentralDS (Korea) take orders for the 6d, which means I either swallow a new camera's price for the conversion or learn it myself.

The mono-modding topic here is interesting, but still lacking complete workflows on recent cameras - for obvious reasons. The two successful providers might have found an efficient way...

I know someone has done a 6D so it is possible. I really would buy something cheaper to practice on for your fist attempt, could be anything but I would suggest a 550D as I have seen some good mono pictures taken with one. In all honestly unless you are dealing with a back illuminated sensor I would expect the process to be the same.

I don't even have to buy (well, technically yes, to replace it once killed :D ), I have an olympus e-pl5 to sacrifice and get a few 10-20$ worth sensors. However I don't know how much does the sony and canon CFA differs/resists of removal.
