Hi Mark -

A member here, Mak the Night, knows a great deal about Cartes du Ciel. I'll go track him down and inform him of your query. I'm sure he'd be happy to give you some pointers - if he knows them. I know his other haunt, so this won't take long.

Dave

Ah well, worth a shot!

This much I know: Many users, who submitted reports a few years back, reported the CdC was the hands-down easiest software to run a telescope with. It was up there, regards How-To, with SoftwareBisque's TheSkyX-software - which I have used to run scopes - which says 'EASY!' But how-to set it up in the first place is beyond me for CdC.

Often the first thing to do is to familiarise yourself with ASCOM, if you haven't done so already. You could start here:

I hope this helps a bit. You've gotten my curiosity as well, so I'll be quite intrigued to learn this too.

Until later -

Dave

I use the Eqmod voice sounds just for an audio notification that the mount is doing what it should when I hit a button, belt and braces!

Also I have a few kids visit the observatory from time to time, it impresses the hell out of them!!

The sounds are within EQMOD - the file you need to download is here - https://sourceforge.net/projects/eq-mod/files/sounds/

Its an American accent - I am currently working on a  Scottish accented set of files - freely available when complete !  (Along with subtitles :happy11:)

Looking forward to that. When your done let me know and, assuing your happy with the idea, I'll put them on the EQMOD sourceforge site with the other sound files.

OK - great !!! It's a nice female Scottish voice - very easy on the ear. 'Slewing tae target' has never sounded so exciting!
