Those members who live in NE Fife/Edinburgh/Dundee or within easy travel to St Andrews may be interested in the public open evening event this weekend - Sat 26 Nov at the University's observatory.  A number of activities are planned including lectures by the astrophysics department and fun activities for families. The  main activity, weather permitting, involves observing sessions with the James Gregory telescope, Scotland's largest research grade telescope - used for exo planet research.   I've attended past events and I can highly recommend it, especially the public lectures.  More info can be found on the attached.  Maybe see you there, I'll be the guy drooling over the 37 inch James Gregory telescope asking professional astronomers stupid questions about my setup :)

Just wish I could attend as I used to walk passed that Observatory every day on my way to lectures at the University. Even though I was studying in the physics department, I never got to look around it, I played rugby on the pitch next to it many times. Oh happy days.
